From disappearance to revival...

THE PROJECT

The reconstruction project aims at placing the Opus 699 instead of the current choir organ of Nancy Cathedral.

The original disposition and sound from Cavaillé-Coll will be restored with the greatest respect, mechanisms will be reconstructed considering the inner constraints of its new place and case.

The current case of the choir organ will be re-used (dated 1844) which will be a good match as the Opus 699 lost its original case in 1911, due to transfer in the Theatre Municipal.

Current pedal stops of the choir organ may also be re-used in order to rebuild Cavaillé-Coll’s pedal, which was also lost.

To be noted the volume of the current choir organ’s case, currently counting 15 stops, is well-sized to welcome the Opus 699.
