Opus 699, the last authentic Cavaillé-Coll organ has been found again…
Decommissioned for more than fifty years, this outstanding instrument slowly deteriorated year after year...
But today, we have the opportunity to restore it and make it sound again!
On the 13th of October 1899, following a career in organ building second to none, with hundreds of instruments built which changed the art of organ manufacturing forever, the great organ builder Aristide Cavaillé-Coll passes away.
Officially delivered on March 12 1898, his Opus 699, stands in manufactory's order book as the "very last authentic Cavaillé-Coll" built in the famous organ workshop of the Avenue du Maine, in Paris.
